Covid-19 Update

We are delighted to announce that we have reopened the majority of our gardens and grounds to visitors. Like many venues, we have been working hard to find ways of adapting to these new circumstances and keep our staff and visitors safe.

We are grateful to have so many regular visitors getting in touch about our reopening and it has been wonderful to have so much support on our social media during this difficult period.

As time moves on, much of our opening information is being continually reviewed in line with government guidance and visitor feedback. The best way to keep informed about any changes is by following us on Facebook & Instagram, although changes will also be amended on our website.

When are you open?
Our new opening hours for July, will be Wednesday - Sunday, 10.30am - 5pm.
What’s open?
Some of these areas have signage that encourages ‘direction of travel’ or ‘give priority’. This allows everyone to still maintain social distancing:

  • Kitchen Gardens (one-way flow system)
  • Formal Gardens (one-way flow system)
  • Dutch Garden
  • Castle grounds
  • River Walk (one-way flow system)
  • Orangery Café (see below for more information on this specifically)

What’s closed?
Some areas of the estate are still closed for the time being. These are areas where we feel that government safety guidance would be challenging to uphold:

  • Maze
  • Sunken Garden
  • Play Area
  • Gift Shop
  • Castle Tours

Are your entry prices the same?
As some areas are closed then there are reduced entry prices during July. These will also be reviewed monthly.
Adults: £6
Children: £3 (4 -15 years)
Under 4’s: free
Can I buy a season ticket?
Not currently, but we will be offering these as soon as possible.
Are you accepting discount vouchers, group booking and concessions?
At present, we won’t be offering any other concessions, accepting discount vouchers or group bookings. This is something that will also continue to be under review.
Do I need to pre-book?
Currently, visitors don’t need to pre-book tickets or time slots. There is ample space for queueing and we ask that visitors maintain social distancing.
Can I pay by cash?
We are only taking card payments and encouraging contactless wherever possible.
Is the Orangery Café open as normal?
We are so pleased to be able to open the Orangery Café, albeit with a limited menu. The following safety measures have been implemented:

  • Indoor seating has been reduced to enable social distancing
  • Plenty of outdoor seating with ample distance between tables
  • Serving staff are wearing visors
  • Any food, made and packed on site, has been produced by staff using appropriate PPE 
  • Only individually-wrapped ice creams are currently available
  • One-way system in place

Are your toilets open?
Yes, the cleaning of facilities has also been increased to every hour and hand-sanitising points are available throughout the grounds.
Can I bring my dog?
We are still only allowing assistance dogs onsite.
